I should note that my MacBook is currently running Ubuntu Wily (which I installed via DVD). What other options do I have? I've seen at least one other comment that indicates someone had this working on a MacBook 2,1. I'm not sure if that's possible because of the partition scheme on the drive. Reading around the internet, it seems like most people who want to, for example, install Linux on this machine using a USB drive end up using a tool like rEFIt to get the drive to boot. That still didn't work, even while holding the option key and after clearing PRAM. I was originally trying the 64-bit version of CloudReady (since the Core 2 Duo in the MacBook 2,1 can do 64-bit), but when I didn't have success I also tried the 32-bit version (remembering that the EFI bootloader on this MacBook is 32 bit). The flash drive I'm using is a Toshiba Transmemory 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive, which I've used (booted from) to upgrade to Lion on other (newer) MacBooks. I'm having trouble getting my MacBook 2,1 to boot from the CloudReady USB stick I made.
